Which Airport do I fly into in Namibia?
Fly into Windhoek or Walvis Bay. Both are approx 4 hours by gravel road or 1 hour by Air Taxi to the race village in the Sossusvlei. The Adventure Centre at Sossusvlei Lodge offers Air Taxi flights.
Is there a transfer service from the airport to the Sossusvlei?
Yes, we will be arranging a shuttle from Windhoek airport only at a specific time on the 20th February.
Are Family & Friends allowed as spectators?
We do encourage you to bring your supporters along. Unfortunately they will not be permitted into the race camps but are welcome to see you off and welcome you back at the start and finish of the race.
How do I arrange additional accommodation if I would like to stay longer in the area?

What percentage of the race route is running through sand?
About 20% of the course runs through thick dune sand.
Where do I sleep each night?
At the end of each stage, you will have the opportunity to share the stories of the day amongst your fellow competitors, in the race campsite with a view of the stars and the African night sky. You will sleep in a tent with up to six people.
What is the temperature going to be like at that time of the year?
Very hot, most likely it will reach in excess of 35 degrees, at times well into the 40’s. Stages will start early at 7am in order to minimize time spent in the mid-day heat.
I don’t think I can run 220 kilometers, can I still make the cutoff times?
The event is set up to allow for generous cut off times.
Is there a limit to the number of competitors?
Yes, due to the delicate nature of the area it is very difficult to get permission to arrange a race in this area. We have to make sure that our race has a minimal impact on the environment and therefore we have strictly limited the race to 80 competitors only.
What is the format of NDC?
NDC is a 5 day, 220-kilometer footrace. However, each individual must also carry his or her own gear, food and clothing in a backpack. The only assistance provided is water, tents and medical assistance. The average backpack weighs about 20 pounds (9 kilos).

Our competitors generally work full time, some have families, many do a lot of community service and all lead a healthy lifestyle. Our competitors consist of medical doctors, professors, investment bankers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, journalists, top athletes and coaches, military professionals and senior level managers of top corporations.
