ITI Summit answers and poses valid IT Infrastructure questions
The inaugural IT Infrastructure Summit came to a close at the Westin Hotel in Cape Town on Friday 19th August. Produced by Kinetic Events and officially opened by the Minister of Science and Technology, Mrs GNM Pandor, the summit was designed for business and government leaders who want to see the IT Infrastructure challenges facing a developing African continent addressed.
One hundred and fifty delegates from all over Africa descended on the Westin ballroom to address ways in which IT Infrastructure challenges can be overcome through innovation, alignment of business with technology and the positive influence of active government participation. Chief Information Officers, Government officials and IT heads were present. Mrs GNM Pandor commented on the state of Infrastructure and Innovation by saying, ‘We are not on the frontier of IT innovation. We import technologies from abroad and adapt them for local use"
“The mix of topics was interesting and relevant to IT Infrastructure managers wanting to increase their understanding of current and future trends’ commented Derrick Plank, Founder, ClearSpace Consulting.
It was clearly established by the end of the event that IT Infrastructure is a contentious issue for corporate and government alike to address if Africa is ever to compete with developed economies. Derrick Plank concluded the following: ‘The IT Infrastructure Summit provides valuable insight into the changing landscape and is an event well worth planning into your scheduling.’
